Woodhead Restaurant Group comprises 5 restaurants.

We started with one restaurant (Portland in 2015) and added a few more into the fold over the next three years, driven by the talent of our teams rather than any grand expansion strategy.

The Quality Chop House celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019.

We are hugely proud and humbled to be the custodians of this institution – although its history isn’t leant on too much. Our menu is contemporary whilst simultaneously respectful to and proud of the site’s ‘meaty’ past – in fact, we even opened a butcher’s next door!

Our head chef Shaun Searley has been on the pass since day 1 of QCH’s current incarnation in 2012 and is passionate about working with the best suppliers we can find in the British Isles. He writes the menu and leads the kitchen alongside our Head Chef Nathan Chapman, whilst on the floor the team is led by our GM Ashley Best and our Restaurant Manager Hannah Khoyratty.

Located just off historic Exmouth Market on Farringdon Road, the Chop House is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. In addition, we open on Sunday lunch for a very special roast menu.


We opened Portland in January 2015 with the aim of opening a great neighbourhood restaurant but, thanks to an incredibly-talented opening team, things got a bit smarter than we initially thought we would be and the restaurant gained a Michelin star later that year which we are very proud to have retained ever since.

We try to offer the best contemporary example of fine dining in London – this doesn’t mean cloches and tablecloths (we don’t own a single one of either!) but the finest produce we can find cooked with precision and a high level of technique. Our team is led by Executive Chef Chris Bassett and Head Chef Angelica Hope whilst on the floor Gabor Papp, our Service Director, oversees things.

Portland is open Tuesday to Saturday for both lunch and dinner.


We opened Clipstone in the summer of 2016 aiming to be a great neighbourhood restaurant and the ambition is still the same today.

We like to think of Clipstone as our most accessible restaurant in terms of pricing and offer – nestled on the corner of Bolsover St and Clipstone St, five minutes walk from Regents Park, with lots of natural light, outdoor tables and the smells of our bread oven wafting through the breeze.

Our team in the kitchen is led by Executive Chef Chris Bassett alongside our Head Chef Clara Albano. On the floor our GM Kat Adams works alongside our Service Director Gabor Papp to lead a young and passionate team.

Clipstone is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner with additional heated and covered tables on our outdoor terrace.


Quality Wines began life as a wine shop but quickly morphed – with the arrival of head chef Nick Bramham – into one of London’s most exciting food and wine offerings (and you don’t need to take our word for that).

Open lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday the blackboard menu changes weekly with a mixture of small plates and larger main courses, often with an eye to classical cuisines and techniques.

Not to be out-done, the wine offering is both eclectic and broad with exciting finds and unusual pairings abound both by the glass and by the bottle thanks to our GM Marcos Spyrou.


64 Goodge Street is a new restaurant from Woodhead Restaurant Group, that opened on 7th August 2023.

Our new restaurant is based on “French cooking from an outsider’s perspective” as seen by chef Stuart Andrew (who has been with us since the first day Portland opened and the group began back in 2015) and centres around his time spent cooking in Paris, and the love that he has for French cuisine. The wine list, like in each venue, celebrates wine in all its diversity but does have a focus on Burgundy.

Built from scratch on the site of an old travel agent we have enjoyed tailoring every inch of the site to our vision over the first half of 2023.

We are open Monday to Saturday Lunch & Dinner.


Private Dining & Events

For that special occasion, we are lucky enough to have two beautiful private dining rooms within our group of restaurants.

At The Quality Chop House, what was once the proprietor’s living room has become a decadent dining room flanked by ceiling-high windows that look out onto Farringdon Road. At Portland, our downstairs dining room adjoins our wine cellar creating the perfect room for a group of up to 12 guests.

However, there’s no need for you to come to us. Our Woodhead Events team specialises in bespoke catered events of all sizes and can tailor a menu to your space and requirements bringing some of (we think) London’s best chefs to your home.
